National Night Out

National Night Out - Tue., August 3rd

Neighbors:  It is that time of year again to take  a bite out of crime.  Please consider hosting a party or event on August 4 for National Night Out.  For further information, you may check out www.nationalnightout.org.

The 26th annual National Night Out is Tuesday, August 3. Please help us celebrate by hosting or attending an event in your neighborhood!  National Night Out was introduced in 1984 as a unique crime and drug prevention event and as a way to promote neighborhood unity and police-community partnerships.

This is a great opportunity to partner with the City of Richmond and the Richmond Police Department to take a bite out of crime.  Show that you support the effort to take back our streets and let criminals know that we will not tolerate crime. Many residents, faith leaders, and businesses are working together with the City of Richmond to reduce crime.

Celebrate NNO with a variety of events and activities such as:
    * block parties
    * cookouts
    * visits from local police and sheriff departments
    * parades, exhibits
    * flashlight walks
    * contests
    * youth programs

For more information on National Night Out or to register your event, please visit nno.org and Richmond.gov. The preferred deadline to register an event is July 24. If your event is registered, it may be counted in the total number of events held.  Also, if you register your event with the City, a police officer will attend your event.

Of course, you need not register your event, but who can pass up a friendly visit from the police officers who work so hard to keep us safe?

Please contact the MDA Safety Chair if you have any questons or if you would like an MDA representative to attend your event and get pictures for our newsletter and website!
